[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-jun, mayor of Suwon, announced that major issues will be decided through citizen voting.
At the 'October Meeting' held on the 13th at the city hall auditorium, Mayor Lee said, "I habitually say that the core of city administration will be 'co-governance and participation,' and I emphasized that 'we will build the city with the hands of the citizens.' I promise to fulfill what I have pledged to the citizens."
He continued, "We will create a mobile-based direct democracy platform called 'Anyone Mayor' to listen to citizens' voices and reflect their opinions by voting on major issues. Also, we will operate an 'On-site Mayor's Office' and establish a 'Public Deliberation Committee' to seek solutions for highly contentious issues," he emphasized.
Mayor Lee added, "On the 5th, we proclaimed the vision of the 8th elected term Suwon Special City, 'Renew Suwon, Shine the Citizens,' and announced three major goals (a robust economic special city, a clean living special city, a warm care special city) and ten strategies. We will implement these announcements to improve the quality of life for citizens."
