Uijeongbu City Increases City Bus Services on 'Gosan District~Dobongsan·Nowon Station' Route
Increase of 3 buses on routes 1-8 and 2 buses on 1-9... 11 buses operated per route
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Uijeongbu City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 12th that it has started increasing the number of buses for city routes 1-8 and 1-9 heading towards Seoul (Dobongsan, Nowon Station) from the Gosan district starting on the 11th.
According to the city, the number of buses per route has increased from 8 to 11 for route 1-8 by adding 3 buses, and from 9 to 11 for route 1-9 by adding 2 buses.
The city expects that the increased bus operation will reduce the interval between buses during rush hours by about 5 to 10 minutes, easing congestion inside the buses and improving commuting convenience for residents of Minrak and Gosan districts traveling to and from Seoul.
Previously, since 2020, the city has been operating four city bus routes with financial support in line with the occupancy of the Gosan district.
However, considering the increase in residents, the longer average bus intervals compared to demand, high congestion inside buses, and the planned additional occupancy of over 3,000 households by next year, the city decided to increase the number of buses.

Im Woo-young, head of the Transportation Planning Division, said, "Although the bus operation rate is currently low due to the prolonged shortage of transportation workers, we will normalize bus operations step-by-step through continuous cooperation with transportation companies and improve bus service inconveniences for citizens by reorganizing routes in transportation-disadvantaged areas."
