Hanwha Hotels & Resorts Announces Regular Executive Personnel Changes... Kim Dong-seon Promoted to Executive Director
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Kim Dong-seon, the third son of Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Seung-yeon, has been promoted to executive director at Hanwha Hotels & Resorts.
Hanwha Hotels & Resorts announced on the 12th through its regular executive personnel appointments that Kim Dong-seon, executive director of the Hospitality Division's Future Strategy Office, has been promoted to executive director. Yang Hee-seon, head of the Human Resources Team in the Estate Division's Management Strategy Office, was promoted to executive director. Hanwha Hotels & Resorts described this personnel decision as "a move to discover future growth engines in new business areas, strengthen competitiveness, and establish a foundation for continuous growth."
The company stated, "The main concern of the travel and leisure industry, which has experienced the unprecedented COVID-19 crisis, is to build a solid profit structure even amid the pandemic. By appointing talent equipped with innovation, we aim to lay the groundwork for transforming into a lifestyle platform company encompassing not only lodging but also interior design, remodeling, and commerce."
The company judged that Executive Director Kim Dong-seon enhanced market competitiveness by separating specialized businesses such as the equestrian business from the Hospitality Division's Future Strategy Office into subsidiaries. It also added that despite the crisis, he was involved in asset securitization of properties like Taean Golden Bay Golf & Resort in line with the company's future strategy, securing financial soundness. Through this, it explained that the scale of borrowings has been reduced amid the recent high-interest-rate environment, leading to improved financial stability. Recently, while concurrently serving as head of the New Business Strategy Office in the Galleria Division of Hanwha Solutions, he gained attention by attracting the U.S. top three burger chain 'Five Guys.'
