Marking its 24th year this year, the Korea Youth Film Festival, which began in 1999, is the longest-running youth film festival in Korea, providing a platform for youth film production and discovering numerous aspiring filmmakers.
This year, the festival is managed by Baek Hakgi, a poet and film director who serves as the organizing chairman, and Seo Gilseok, head of the Marv Storytelling specialist group, who is the executive chairman. The event will take place over three days and two nights at Jeonil Building 245 in Gwangju.
This festival has formed a youth executive committee so that young people can directly lead the festival, working jointly with the professional executive committee in planning, operation, and judging.
The festival slogan, "Show Your Own Voice," was selected directly by the youth executive committee. It conveys the meaning of asking for voices unique to youth, not adults.
About 130 works, including short films, animations, and documentaries, were submitted to this year's festival.
