Protecting Safety of Elderly Living Alone with Address Stickers in Emergencies
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Seokgang Seok) announced that it will provide ‘Easy-to-See Road Name Address Guide Stickers’ for elderly people living alone who are not familiar with using road name addresses.
Elderly people living alone may become flustered during emergencies and fail to recall their home address or provide an inaccurate address, which can delay emergency response and cause them to miss the golden time.
Accordingly, the district has produced the ‘Easy-to-See Road Name Address Guide Stickers’ so that elderly people living alone can quickly and accurately convey their location in emergencies, and will distribute the stickers to 18,599 elderly people living alone in the area.
The stickers measure 15 cm in width and 16 cm in height, and are made with magnets and adhesive backs so they can be easily attached to visible places such as phones and refrigerators.
The stickers include the resident’s road name address, emergency numbers 119 and 112, the Health and Welfare Counseling Center number 129, the phone number of the local community service center, and the Seoul City Single-Person Household Hospital Safety Escort Service call center number. There is also space to write emergency contact information for family members or guardians.
The stickers will be distributed directly to elderly people living alone by neighborhood community leaders, who will also provide instructions on how to use them.
