Google to Open First Data Center in Japan Next Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Google will open its first data center in Japan in 2023.
Sundar Pichai, CEO, stated on his blog on the 7th (local time), "The new facility (data center) will accelerate the operation of Google's tools and services and support local economic activities and jobs."
Located in Inzai City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, this center is part of Google's $730 million (1 trillion KRW) investment planned for Japan by 2024. It is Google's third data center in Asia, following Taiwan and Singapore.
CEO Pichai also appeared at the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel Watch launch event held in Tokyo on the same day, saying, "The partnership between Japan and Google is deeper than ever," and "Japan has a history of leading the world's cutting-edge technology."
