Infoblox, a next-generation DNS (Domain Name System) management and security specialist company, is launching solutions to simplify networking and security in the Korean market. The company plans to target the Korean market with differentiated services at a time when companies are accelerating the shift from controlling IT services through traditional central servers to the cloud.
On the 6th, Jesper Andersen, Chairman and CEO of Infoblox, who met with Asia Economy, explained the background of entering the cloud security business in Korea, saying, “Korea is the world’s 10th largest economy with a high rate of IT technology usage, but it is based on past IT infrastructure environments. Therefore, there is room for higher utilization of new IT technologies in the future.”
Infoblox is a leading company holding a 50% market share in the DDI (DNS, DHCP, IP Address Management) market, based on more than 13,000 customers worldwide. Since entering Korea in 2008, it has secured over 460 customers across all industries, including large corporations such as Samsung Electronics and SK Telecom, financial institutions, government agencies, and e-commerce.
The DDI solutions provided by Infoblox are a relatively unfamiliar field to the general public. Regarding this, Chairman Andersen smiled and said, “In a market composed of acronyms, it is difficult for the general public to understand the words just by the acronyms of acronyms.”
Chairman Andersen explained that all areas utilizing networks can be understood as DDI. Using autonomous vehicles as an example, he said, “An autonomous vehicle contains hundreds of sensors, and each of these sensors is connected through networking services. If the networking system of the car company connected to these sensors becomes vulnerable, the operation of the vehicle itself becomes difficult. Our role is to strengthen the core of this networking.”
Chairman Andersen assessed that the importance of security will increase further in the rapidly changing work environment after COVID-19. He said, “Digital transformation has accelerated the adoption of the cloud and the activation of remote and telecommuting work environments. As a result, the threat of cyberattacks has increased, but security preparedness is not keeping pace with the speed of digital transformation.”
He explained that the work environment through the cloud is completely different from the centralized server control environment. In the case of centralized servers, blocking external attacks was sufficient through strict internal employee control. However, in cloud environments used for telecommuting and remote work, the devices used by employees become diverse, and companies cannot fully control them. Also, since the cloud does not use a unified path, it is more vulnerable and potentially fatal to external attacks.

Andersen said, “Even losing an ID card on the street causes a significant level of security threat, and if the metaverse accelerates in the future, the problem of personal information leakage could become even more serious. Infoblox will continue to learn together in the Korean market, which will lead the metaverse, and provide even stronger security solutions.”
