After announcing recruitment from September 1 to 21 and reviewing the appropriateness of the applicants, 11 institutions across 3 sectors were confirmed as registered inspection agencies.
The registration status by sector includes 4 institutions in civil engineering, 5 in architecture, and 2 in comprehensive fields.
The 'Construction Safety Inspection Agencies' are institutions authorized to conduct safety inspections according to the construction safety management plan. Before 2020, these agencies were designated by construction contractors or housing construction contractors.
However, to address issues such as poor safety inspections caused by low-price contracts and collusion among companies, and to prevent accidents at construction sites, the 'Construction Technology Promotion Act' was amended and enforced on July 1, 2019. Since then, the heads of ordering authorities or licensing agencies register and manage construction safety inspection agencies annually through recruitment announcements.
When construction contractors or housing construction contractors request designation of a construction safety inspection agency, the ordering authority announces a bid targeting the registered and managed companies.
The ordering authority evaluates the business performance capabilities of companies participating in the bid, designates the agency, and notifies the construction contractors or housing construction contractors. Then, the contractors and the inspection agencies sign contracts and perform safety inspections.
