On the 6th, Lee Sang-min, Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, announced a government organization reform plan at the Government Seoul Office in Jongno-gu, Seoul, which includes the abolition of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. According to the government proposal, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family will be abolished, and its main functions will be transferred to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, where a new 'Population, Family, and Gender Equality Bureau' will be established. If the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family is actually abolished, it will be the first time in 21 years since the Ministry of Women was launched in 2001.
