[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hee-jun] On the 6th, the Ministry of Unification stated regarding North Korea's nuclear development and successive ballistic missile launches, "North Korea must stop provocations and threats and respond to the Bold Initiative we proposed."
An official from the Ministry of Unification said at a meeting with reporters that "North Korea is continuously pursuing nuclear possession and development," adding, "It is important for our government and the international community to respond firmly and unwaveringly to North Korea's provocations and threats with a united voice."
The official emphasized, "It is important to make North Korea clearly recognize that possessing nuclear weapons harms its security and economy," and "Through this, we must change North Korea's calculations so that it can come onto the path of practical denuclearization."
He mentioned that such content is included in President Yoon Seok-yeol's 'Bold Initiative' for a denuclearized, peaceful, and prosperous Korean Peninsula, and repeatedly urged North Korea to halt provocations and respond to the Bold Initiative.
On the same day, North Korea launched two short-range ballistic missiles (SRBM) into the East Sea from the Samseok area in Pyongyang in the morning. This marks the 10th provocation since the current government took office, and some speculate that North Korea may soon conduct its 7th nuclear test. However, the Ministry of Unification dismissed this, stating, "We are carefully evaluating the intentions behind North Korea's successive provocations considering various factors."
