40s Man Arrested and Sent to Prosecution for Recording Neighboring Woman's Voice
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] A man in his 40s who eavesdropped on and recorded the voice of a woman next door has been handed over to the prosecution.
On the 5th, Gangdong Police Station in Seoul announced that they had sent Mr. A, a man in his 40s, to prosecution in custody on the 29th of last month on charges of violating the Stalking Punishment Act.
Mr. A is accused of repeatedly eavesdropping on the voice of a woman living next door and recording it by placing his mobile phone against the door in an apartment in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, from August until early last month.
Earlier, the police applied charges including violation of the Stalking Punishment Act and the Protection of Communications Secrets Act and requested a pre-arrest warrant. The court issued the warrant, citing concerns that Mr. A might flee.

However, the police reportedly did not apply the 'Protection of Communications Secrets Act' charge as no conversation recordings were confirmed in the relevant files.
