Assaults Reporter, Steals Taxi and Crashes... 20-Year-Old Drunk Driver Caught Red-Handed
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A man in his 20s who assaulted a taxi driver while intoxicated, stole the taxi, and caused an accident was arrested by the police.
On the 5th, the Yangcheon Police Station in Seoul announced that they had arrested and were investigating Mr. A (25) on charges of robbery and violation of the Road Traffic Act.
Mr. A is accused of verbally abusing and punching the face of a taxi driver while driving on a road in Sinjeong-dong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, at around 12:15 a.m. that day.
He also forced the taxi driver to get out, then drove the taxi himself and fled, causing an accident by crashing into a median strip at around 12:30 a.m. on the same day.
The police who arrived at the scene arrested Mr. A on the spot as he attempted to flee after the accident.
At the time of arrest, Mr. A's blood alcohol concentration was 0.127%, which is at the level for license cancellation.
