CU launches Hong Kong food products... "Replicating local flavors with Lee Kum Kee sauces"
Sales of 10 Types Including Dosirak and Hobbang
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] CU announced on the 5th that it will launch Hong Kong food products in collaboration with the Hong Kong Tourism Board and the global sauce brand Lee Kum Kee.
The products introduced this time include 10 types such as ready meals like lunch boxes, rice balls, and gimbap, winter snacks like steamed buns, and refrigerated and frozen home meal replacements (HMR). The grilled pork belly set lunch box features pork belly marinated in oyster sauce, stir-fried with shishito peppers and garlic to add a spicy and savory flavor, and is generously filled with Chinese-style stir-fried cabbage and perilla seed bamboo shoot salad. The pork belly stir-fried triangle rice ball and pork belly gimbap highlight Hong Kong-style pork belly as the main topping, with gochujang pork belly stir-fried once more in Doubanjiang sauce to add a smoky flavor.
Chinese dumplings, essential in Hong Kong cuisine, are presented as Char Siu Wang Hopang and Oyster Sauce Wang Hopang. Char Siu Wang Hopang is a BBQ steamed bun with char siu braised in oyster sauce, steamed sweetly, while Oyster Sauce Wang Hopang captures the savory taste of xiaolongbao filled with pork juice. HMR products include Dongpo pork slices, known for their tender texture after long simmering in oyster sauce broth, smoked duck wraps, oyster sauce stir-fried udon cups, seafood scorched rice soup, and beef garlic scape stir-fry.
To commemorate the launch of the collaboration products with the Hong Kong Tourism Board, CU is holding an event giving away Hong Kong travel vouchers. Customers who purchase the products this month and accumulate Pocket CU points will be entered into a draw to win Hong Kong travel vouchers worth 2 million won (1 winner), 1 million won (2 winners), and 500,000 won (3 winners).
