UN Secretary-General Strongly Condemns North Korea's Ballistic Missile Launch
[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] Ant?nio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), strongly condemned North Korea's launch of an intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) on the 4th (local time) and urged the resumption of denuclearization talks.
Secretary-General Guterres issued a statement through spokesperson St?phane Dujarric, saying, "This is a reckless act and a violation of the Security Council (UNSC) resolutions."
He expressed deep concern that "North Korea once again disregarded international aviation and maritime safety," and urged "the resumption of dialogue with key stakeholders to achieve the complete, verifiable denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and sustainable peace."

On the same day, North Korea launched one IRBM around 7:23 a.m. from the Mupyong-ri area in Jagang Province, and the missile passed over Japanese airspace. The United States requested a Security Council meeting on the 5th.
