[Asia Economy Reporter Bora Lee] An incident occurred in the New York City subway where women dressed in fluorescent clothes that fit tightly from head to toe assaulted and robbed a teenage girl.
According to local media including major U.S. outlets on the 3rd (local time), a group of women wearing full-body fluorescent clothes assaulted two teenage girls on a subway passing through Times Square Station around 2 a.m. the previous day.
A video capturing the situation quickly spread through social networking services (SNS). The footage shows several women wearing fluorescent clothes covering their entire bodies surrounding two passengers and throwing punches. They wore fluorescent masks to conceal their faces, making it impossible to recognize even their facial contours.
They also grabbed the legs of a victim trying to escape, threw her against the wall, and knocked her down. According to the police, the victims were friends and 19 years old. Their cell phones and handbags were stolen, and the identities of the perpetrators have not yet been identified. It is presumed that the perpetrators wore such outfits to participate in a nearby event.
Meanwhile, the victim’s mother, Ms. A, said in an interview, "This is truly disgusting, and I hope the perpetrators receive appropriate punishment." The media reported that Ms. A did not disclose her identity due to fear of retaliation.
Ms. A continued, "When my daughter came home after the incident, she said she was 'attacked by aliens,' so at first, I didn’t understand what she meant. My daughter and her friend were punched in the face," she expressed with anger.
She also explained, "When my daughter and her friend were standing on the subway platform, the perpetrators came down the stairs noisily, and one of them bumped into my daughter’s friend. When my daughter moved with her friend to the next car, they followed and attacked them," she explained.
She lamented, "The men on the subway were busy filming the scene with their smartphones and no one helped to stop the assault."
