Sinan Purple Island Records Highest Single-Day Visitors Since Opening
Purple Island Dyed with Purple Aster Flowers
[Sinan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] Purple Island, a purple-colored sacred place located on Anjwa Island in Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, was overflowing with people coming to see the aster flowers.
According to Sinan-gun, more than 8,000 tourists visited Purple Island on the 2nd, the highest number since its opening.
During the golden holiday including National Foundation Day, the good weather encouraged tourists who had hesitated due to the long distance from the metropolitan area, Gyeongsang-do, and Chungcheong-do to line up.
The aster flowers, cultivated on an area of 33,000㎡, harmonized with the autumn sunlight, blue sky, sea, and tourists' clothing, creating a scene that looks like a painting with purple paint spread across the entire island.
This festival was held alongside the king prawn festival, a representative autumn delicacy, capturing the taste buds of tourists enjoying gourmet food.
Purple Island has already become well-known as a place that anyone who likes the color purple must visit at least once.
It has now become a kind of trend for families, couples, and various groups to wear matching purple clothes when visiting Purple Island.
Park Woo-ryang, the mayor of Sinan-gun, said, "Our ultimate goal is for everyone visiting Purple Island to wear purple clothes," and added, "We invite purple lovers from all over the world to Purple Island."
