Busan City to Increase Flights and Trains Ahead of BTS Concert
"Comprehensive Traffic Measures" Prepared... Increasing Public Transportation Centered on Concert Venues
[Asia Economy Culture Young Intern Reporter] Busan City is preparing and actively implementing a comprehensive traffic plan in anticipation of the BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) concert to support the bid for the 2030 Busan World Expo, which will be held at the Asiad Main Stadium on the 15th.
According to Busan City on the 4th, two additional KTX trains will operate in both directions, and one additional SRT train will run in both directions on the day. Two standby trains will also be added on the Donghae Line. The Busan-Gimhae Light Rail Transit will increase 24 trips, reducing the interval between trains from 6-8 minutes to 4-6 minutes.
Additionally, the international transfer ferry service between Incheon Airport and Gimhae Airport is operating twice daily from September 30, and from October 13 to 15, passenger flights between Busan and Japan will be increased by 3 to 7 times per week. For airport bus number 307, the route will be adjusted to pass the concert venue, increasing the fleet by 6 buses from the existing 13, and shortening the interval to 15 minutes.
Busan Urban Railway plans to increase operations by 50 trips across lines 1 to 4 and add 34 city and village buses that pass the concert venue.
The urban railway lines 1 and 2, which pass through Busan Port North Port and Haeundae Beach?where the BTS concert will be broadcast live via video?will also increase the number of runs, along with city buses.
Busan City plans to encourage concertgoers arriving by private car to park at public or temporary parking lots near highway toll gates and then use urban rail or other transportation to reach the concert venue.
Furthermore, Busan City will operate a comprehensive traffic task force and prepare 5,068 parking spaces for private cars around the concert venue, as well as 300 parking spaces for large buses to facilitate smooth parking for group transportation.
Before the concert begins, Busan City will deploy drones (unmanned aerial vehicles) around the Asiad Main Stadium to provide real-time traffic footage within a 1.5 km radius on YouTube.
Also, anticipating a concentration of taxi passengers after the event ends, large (temporary) taxi stands will be installed and dispersed across five zones: Busan Station, Airport, Nopo, Sasang, and Haeundae, to facilitate smooth transportation.
Busan City, together with district offices, has organized 10 teams with 27 members to crack down on illegal parking that obstructs traffic, and will operate a comprehensive traffic control center to ensure traffic safety for concertgoers.
