SK On announced on the 4th that it has launched the 'EV My Car Management' service in collaboration with SK Rent-a-Car and Makgeolli Factory. The service is available through Makgeolli Factory's vehicle management application (app) called 'Michael'.
EV owners can visit one of the over 400 Makgeolli Factory affiliated maintenance shops nationwide and install SK Rent-a-Car's comprehensive vehicle management solution device, 'Smart Link', on their vehicles via the Michael app.
SK Rent-a-Car transmits real-time EV operation data collected from Smart Link to SK On's independently developed Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) system. SK On automatically measures and analyzes the battery status of the EV using this data and provides the results to EV owners in real time through the Michael app.
Not only can users monitor battery status at a glance in real time, but they can also receive EV inspections at affiliated maintenance shops. Additionally, users can check battery management scores based on their usual charging habits and charging environment, making battery management easy.
They are also considering linking this with the used EV battery diagnosis and certification business. This is expected to enhance customer trust in used EVs by more clearly evaluating the residual value of batteries.
To build a battery lifecycle ecosystem, SK On started a pilot battery diagnosis service in the EV charging app 'EV Infra' with Softberry in November last year. In February this year, it signed a business agreement with K Car, the largest direct-operated used car platform company in Korea, to measure and certify the residual value of used EV batteries. In May, it also signed an agreement with SK Rent-a-Car for sustainable eco-friendly EV mobile charging services.
