Cultural Heritage Administration and Naver Provide 100 3D Cultural Heritage Contents Service
3D cultural heritage information created with digital technology will be made available through Naver Encyclopedia.
The Cultural Heritage Administration announced on the 4th that it will provide 100 pieces of 3D cultural heritage content in collaboration with Naver. This includes 24 national treasures such as the East and West Three-story Stone Pagodas of Gamsungsa Temple Site in Gyeongju and Buncheong ware flat bottle with lotus and fish design, 70 treasures including the Five-story Stone Pagoda of Gaesimsa Temple Site in Yecheon and the Three-story Stone Pagoda in Hyohyeon-dong, Gyeongju, 3 national folk cultural assets such as the Malbang-a (water mill) in Jat Village, Jeju, and 3 nationally registered cultural assets including Choi Songsuldang Sang. These were produced based on 3D original record data accumulated by the Cultural Heritage Administration to prepare for loss or damage.
The 3D content has undergone lightweighting and the application of open standards, making it easily accessible across various devices and connection environments. It is also linked with Naver Encyclopedia’s diverse knowledge search services such as searches by era, material, and type, making it easier to understand.

Kim Hyun-sook, leader of Naver Encyclopedia, said, "The addition of 3D content to the previously photo- and text-based fragmented information has greatly improved the quality of the encyclopedia service." The Cultural Heritage Administration also stated, "To promote wide use of high-quality digital cultural heritage services, we will open up cultural heritage source data and continue to expand the development and distribution of related content through private sector cooperation."
