LG Electronics hosted a recycling exhibition to address climate change at the Nike Art Gallery located in Lagos, Nigeria, showcasing artworks made from OLED TV packaging boxes. The company collaborated with ‘Solution 17,’ an African climate change response NGO, and local young artists.
The artists introduced works using packaging boxes based on the concept of ‘giving new value to waste and converting it into assets.’ More than 20 OLED TV packaging boxes were used diversely as canvases for painting, tools for collage (an art technique involving tearing and pasting paper), and materials for decorations. The exhibition will run until the end of the year.
Through this exhibition, LG Electronics expects not only to lead efforts for sustainability but also to inform customers that the OLED TV is designed with consideration for environmental impact not only in the product itself but also in its packaging boxes.
From this year, to increase resource utilization, LG Electronics has been using recycled packaging materials without color ink for all TV packaging boxes, including OLEDs. Additionally, based on innovative technologies such as OLED, the company is leading efforts in the TV business to ▲ fundamentally reduce plastic usage ▲ expand the proportion of recycled raw materials.
