Sindorim Kickboard Hit-and-Run Suspect Arrested... Police Considering Arrest Warrant Application
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A man in his 50s who hit a man with an electric scooter and fled the scene at Sindorim Station in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, was caught by the police.
The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 29th that they have booked and are investigating a man in his 50s, Mr. A, on charges of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes (hit-and-run causing injury).
Mr. A is accused of hitting the victim, Mr. B, who was crossing the crosswalk while riding an electric scooter on the Dorimcheon exercise road near Sindorim Station in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, around 8 a.m. on the 24th, and fleeing the scene.
The police tracked Mr. A’s identity through closed-circuit television (CCTV) and other means and arrested him on the 27th.
As a result of the accident, Mr. B suffered a cracked cervical vertebra and a fractured left clavicle, and there is a high risk of lower body paralysis due to the cervical spine injury.
The incident became known after Mr. B’s child posted about it online. On the 27th, a post titled "Sindorim Station Electric Scooter Hit-and-Run Accident" was uploaded to an online community.
