With Foreigners and Multicultural Families, 'Incheon Harmony Festival'... June 1st at Incheon Grand Park
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The 'Incheon Harmony Festival,' where foreigners living in Incheon and multicultural families come together, will be held on the 1st of next month at Incheon Grand Park Eoulkeun Madang (formerly the outdoor music hall).
The event, hosted by Incheon City and organized by Gyeyang-gu Family Center, a support hub for multicultural families in Incheon, and the Incheon Foreigners Comprehensive Support Center, will see participation from about 1,000 foreign residents and multicultural families experiencing various cultures from different countries.
The opening ceremony will begin with a global parade featuring 10 countries including China, Vietnam, Madagascar, Mongolia, and Pakistan, followed by the awarding of certificates of commendation to 18 individuals who have contributed to the stable settlement and social integration of foreign residents and multicultural families.
For the congratulatory performances, there will be an exciting dance performance by the Koryoin dance team (Uzbekistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan), solo vocalists, a joint performance by the Howoolim Choir (Myanmar resettled refugees), and the Haneul Sori Choir (Incheon Geomdan Elementary School), as well as a Magic Tree performance symbolizing the blossoming of harmony and coexistence.
Additionally, various participatory events are prepared, including a talent show where multicultural families showcase their families, cultural experience booths by country, and promotional booths from family centers in each district and county.
In particular, the cultural experience booths from 12 countries are planned, prepared, and operated directly by multicultural families, offering diverse experiences such as traditional games and snack making from each country.
The drawing contest, held as a side event, is free for any elementary school student in the Incheon area to participate in.
