CEO Namgung Hoon Reveals Battle with Diabetic Neuropathy: "Symptoms Appeared 3 Weeks Ago"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Namgung Hoon, CEO of Kakao, disclosed his battle with diabetes through social networking service (SNS) on the 26th.
On that day, CEO Namgung wrote on Facebook, "I am thinking of writing a diary about diabetic neuropathy," and revealed that he has been fighting the disease for three weeks.
He continued, "Three weeks ago, I started experiencing numbness in my toes, two weeks ago numbness appeared in my fingers, and recently numbness has also appeared on my back," adding, "Along with the numbness, I feel a cold sensation when blood does not circulate well in my hands and feet."
However, he said, "Since the symptoms appeared, I was surprised and have been managing my diet and blood sugar," stating that his blood sugar levels are well controlled and he has lost 12 kg in weight.

Earlier in March, CEO Namgung was appointed as the sole CEO of Kakao (a two-year term), and since July, he has been serving as co-CEO alongside Hong Eun-taek, co-head of Kakao Community Alignment Center.
