Jin Air Cabin Crew Member Saves Passenger in Emergency on Train
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] A Jin Air flight attendant saved a passenger in distress on a train.
According to Jin Air on the 26th, flight attendant Park Soyoung discovered a female passenger who had collapsed on the airport railroad train heading to Seoul Station on the 29th of last month after completing a flight, experiencing convulsions due to hyperventilation. At the time, the attendant noticed the passenger’s labored breathing, convulsions, and cold sweat, approached her, and checked if she could breathe and if she had any medication with her while assessing her condition.
Judging the passenger’s symptoms to be critical, the attendant provided emergency aid by holding a zipper bag to the passenger’s mouth to help her re-inhale the exhaled air. When the passenger was unable to hold the zipper bag herself, the attendant removed her mask and assisted her in exhaling.
The attendant monitored the passenger until her condition stabilized, confirmed improvement in breathing and convulsions, helped her sit down, found a companion who could watch over her until her final destination, and provided extra zipper bags and a mask.
Ms. Lee Dayeon, who was able to escape the emergency situation thanks to the attendant’s help, said on Jin Air’s website on August 31, “Everyone was panicking, but one person calmly gave me a bag to help me breathe,” and added, “She reassured me with a kind voice and even helped me to the chair.”
She continued, “After regaining some composure, I realized she was an airline flight attendant and recognized her as a Jin Air attendant by her carry-on luggage,” and expressed her gratitude, saying, “I shudder to think what would have happened if she hadn’t been there.”
Flight attendant Park Soyoung, who saved the passenger with calm action, said, “I couldn’t just watch a passenger in trouble, and because I had received safety training on how to respond to emergencies, I was able to act without panic and take the necessary measures,” and added, “I want to thank the passenger who expressed her gratitude rather than the other way around.”
