According to Bloomberg News, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General, said during an online briefing, "Just because we see the end does not mean it is over."
Director-General Ghebreyesus particularly emphasized that the end of the pandemic is still a distant story in poor countries.
According to WHO, the vaccination rate in wealthy countries is currently around 75%, but in low-income countries, it is only 19%.
