The OSC research group held a symposium on the 23rd at the COEX conference room in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, under the theme "OSC! A New Paradigm for Innovation in Housing Supply." This symposium introduced domestic and international cases of OSC and presented the future direction for domestic OSC.
Ha Taehoon, senior researcher at Daewoo Construction, who gave a presentation, spoke on the topic "Case of Dry Construction of Common Housing Rooftop Using Hybrid PC Method." He said, "The rooftop is one of the structures that workers on site want to avoid," adding, "The tower crane can only be dismantled and elevators installed after completing rooftop construction, but rooftop work is often delayed, causing these tasks to be postponed."
He continued, "If rooftop construction takes a long time, the entire construction is delayed, which can lead to difficult situations," and explained, "To solve this, efforts are being made to overcome the situation by applying 'PC (Precast Concrete) wall method' or 'steel modular method' instead of the existing RC (Reinforced Concrete) method." He added, "These methods have advantages such as ▲shortened construction period ▲reduced on-site work ▲possible use of simple labor, but have the disadvantage of increased construction costs."
Senior researcher Ha introduced the "Hybrid PC method," saying, "It is necessary to develop a method that minimizes construction cost increases while ensuring quality." The Hybrid PC method combines the traditional RC (Reinforced Concrete) method with the innovative PC (Precast Concrete) method. The biggest advantage of this method is that it eliminates subsequent work, enabling a shortened construction period and minimizing on-site construction volume to ensure safety. Construction costs are also lower than the steel modular method.
He said, "Although the construction industry is uneasy due to inflation and rising exchange rates recently, the rooftop using the Hybrid PC method will be completed next month," and added, "I hope this will be a starting point for OSC to become active in the construction industry."

Lee Jaeman, senior researcher at Lotte Construction, also said, "OSC is one of the hot issues in the construction field. The reason is that the existing methods in the construction industry have many problems such as low productivity," and added, "To expand OSC and improve productivity, it is necessary to consider various aspects such as production, management, and design first."
