[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jong-sun] The Gokseong-gun Dementia Safety Center in Jeonnam announced that it was selected as an outstanding institution contributing to dementia overcoming and received a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare on the occasion of the 15th Dementia Overcoming Day.
On the 22nd, Jeollanam-do held the 15th Dementia Overcoming Day commemorative ceremony at Suncheon St. Carollo Hospital.
At the ceremony, various commemorative events such as dementia talk lectures and an awards ceremony for outstanding dementia overcoming institutions were held.
Gokseong-gun attended the ceremony with families of dementia patients and received a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare.
The Gokseong-gun Dementia Safety Center opened in September 2019.
Since then, it has been dedicated to dementia prevention and management for local residents by conducting dementia registration management projects, early dementia screening, prevention management projects, dementia support services, and dementia awareness improvement projects.
As a result, in 2021, it ranked 2nd in Jeollanam-do in a joint local government evaluation, recognized for its high dementia management rate and excellent services.
Since July this year, it has further increased service satisfaction by providing taxi shuttle services for elderly residents living in transportation-vulnerable areas or those who have difficulty visiting the center due to mobility issues.
Additionally, it is continuously providing improved services by planning to implement remote medical treatment in October.
A center official said, “Dementia is a disease where help from others is truly important. Therefore, it greatly affects the lives of families as well, and our county will continue to seek practical ways to reduce the burden on dementia patients and their families.”
