Lee Young-ae and Kim Sang-kyung to Serve as Jury Members for 'Actor of the Year' at Busan Film Festival
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] The 27th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) announced on the 23rd that actors Lee Young-ae and Kim Sang-kyung have been appointed as judges for the 'Actor of the Year Award.'
The 'Actor of the Year Award' is given to discover new rookie actors with the potential to lead the future of Korean cinema. Among Korean feature-length independent films submitted to the New Currents and Korean Cinema Today - Vision sections, the judges select one outstanding male and one female rookie actor who left a remarkable impression.
The winners will receive a prize of 5 million KRW, and the two actors will present the awards themselves at the BIFF closing ceremony on October 14.
Established in 2014, the 'Actor of the Year Award' has honored actors such as Choi Woo-shik for Geoin (2014), Jo Soo-hyang for Deulkkot (2014), Koo Kyo-hwan and Lee Min-ji for Kkum-ui Jane (2016), Park Jong-hwan for Bamchigi (2017), Jeon Yeo-bin for Joe Manheun Sonyeo (2017), Lee Joo-young for Megi (2018), and Choi Hee-seo for Awo Badi (2018).
