Patent Office Launches Full-Scale 'Intellectual Property Convergence Talent Development' Specialized in New Industries
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) is launching an initiative to cultivate convergence talents specialized in intellectual property in new industry sectors.
KIPO announced on the 22nd that it held the launch ceremony for the "New Industry Sector Intellectual Property Convergence Talent Cultivation Project" at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul.
The project is being promoted as part of the Ministry of Education's inter-ministerial collaboration talent cultivation initiative.
The launch ceremony was organized as the first event bringing together 50 departments from 32 universities participating in the project.
KIPO plans to support universities from this year through 2024 by providing intellectual property courses, developing and distributing standardized curricula and textbooks by industry sector, supplying professional instructor resources, and offering faculty training to enable universities to proactively nurture convergence talents in new industry fields.
Additionally, through this project, science and engineering students in new industry sectors will be supported to grow into future core research and development talents equipped with both technical expertise and the ability to create and utilize intellectual property.

Lee In-sil, Commissioner of KIPO, stated, "Supporting intellectual property convergence education in 50 departments across new industry sectors in cooperation with the Ministry of Education is meaningful from the perspective of national talent cultivation strategy.
