[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] A magnitude 6.8 earthquake occurred near Michoacan Province in western Mexico at around 1:10 AM local time on the 22nd, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) measured the magnitude at 6.7.
According to Bloomberg News, the epicenter was at a depth of 61 km underground, and the shaking was felt even in Mexico City, USGS reported. EMSC analyzed that the epicenter was located 110 km south-southwest of Uruapan City in Michoacan Province, with a depth of approximately 80 km underground.
