Choi Kyung-sik, Mayor of Namwon, Meets Governor Kim Kwan-young to Request Support for Current Projects
[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] On the morning of the 22nd at 8 a.m., Choi Kyung-sik, Mayor of Namwon City, Jeonbuk, visited Jeonbuk Provincial Office and met with Governor Kim Kwan-young to request support for major pending projects of the 8th term municipal administration.
On this day, Mayor Choi requested provincial-level support for six key projects: the Yocheon customized integrated river project, the insect industry hub complex development project, the Honam region drone integrated support center construction project, hosting the 2023 World Drone Racing Championship, 2023 local currency provincial subsidy support, and the Korea Road Culture Center development project.
For government public projects such as the Ministry of Environment’s ‘Customized Integrated River Project,’ the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs’ ‘Insect Industry Hub Complex Development Project,’ and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s ‘Honam Region Drone Integrated Support Center,’ Jeonbuk Province was requested to prioritize Namwon City when applying to each ministry.
Additionally, they requested hosting the ‘2023 World Drone Racing Championship,’ an international competition organized by the International Aeronautical Federation (FAI) under the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the first of its kind nationwide, and provincial subsidy support.
Furthermore, they requested additional provincial subsidy support due to the exclusion of local currency from the 2023 government budget and an extension of the project period for the Korea Road Culture Center development project.
Governor Kim responded, “To create a new Jeonbuk through shared innovation and success, it is time for the province and cities/counties to unite and pool their strength,” and added, “I sympathize with the requests and will review them positively.”
Mayor Choi said, “During the 8th term, we will establish a close cooperative system with Jeonbuk Province and do our best to attract national projects and secure national budgets.”
