Shinsegae Group is starting administrative procedures for the expansion of Gwangju Shinsegae.
According to the distribution industry on the 22nd, Gwangju Shinsegae is scheduled to submit an application for a district unit plan change to Gwangju City early next week for the department store expansion.
Shinsegae plans to build the Gwangju Shinsegae Art & Culture Park by adding the nearby E-Mart site and parking lot site to the currently operating department store. To this end, it is known that they are promoting a change in the urban planning road alignment by removing the road between E-Mart and the parking lot and instead creating a road between the project site and the nearby Kumho World.
The department store expansion will involve an investment of 900 billion KRW, with construction targeted to begin in the second half of next year. The expanded sales area will be a total of 132,230㎡ (approximately 40,000 pyeong). The plan is to combine culture, art, science, and the latest trend shopping content. They are planning a gallery, a media art wall, and an open large bookstore. The rooftop will be transformed into an 'urban theme park' featuring a rooftop garden, rooftop restaurant, and pet park, along with a super-large natural lighting void and an indoor waterfall.

Additionally, it will be the first in the Gwangju and Honam regions to house Erusha (Herm?s, Louis Vuitton, Chanel). They plan to double the current 530 brands, including Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta, Saint Laurent, and Moncler, to showcase a total of about 1,000 brands.
