Incendiary bombs create flames that enable mass destruction and are classified as inhumane weapons, prohibited from use against civilians.
On the 20th (local time), the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense posted a 12-second video on Twitter, explaining, "Russian 9M22S incendiary bombs dropped in the village of Ozern, Donetsk Province." This is the same footage previously released by local lawmaker Roman Hryshchuk. In the video, numerous flashes pour from the sky and slowly fall to the ground.
As the flashes land on the ground, trees, and buildings, fires ignite, followed by thick white smoke. The buildings and trees hit by the bombs burn fiercely.
There have already been multiple confirmed instances of incendiary bomb use in this war. In March, a type of incendiary bomb called white phosphorus was dropped in Luhansk Province. In May, signs of incendiary bomb use were detected in the Donbas and Kharkiv regions.
Incendiary bombs can melt bones upon contact with the human body, and inhaling the surrounding air can be fatal, earning them the nickname "devil's weapons." Like white phosphorus bombs, they are classified as weapons of mass destruction and inhumane weapons, and their use against civilians is prohibited.
