The Corruption Investigation Office Bans Travel of Lee Young-jin, Constitutional Court Justice's Junior, Over 'Golf Entertainment Allegations'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Division, which is investigating allegations of golf entertainment involving Constitutional Court Justice Lee Young-jin, has banned the departure of a junior from Lee's hometown who was present at the golf gathering.
According to the legal community on the 21st, the Public Officials Crime Investigation Division's Investigation Department 3 (acting chief prosecutor Cha Jeong-hyun) recently prohibited businessman Lee from leaving the country for one month.
Justice Lee first met businessman A, a friend of Lee, at a golf event arranged by Lee in October last year. Lawyer B, who is acquainted with Justice Lee, was also present at this gathering. After finishing golf, the four moved to a restaurant operated by A.
At this gathering, A claimed that when he confided his concerns about a divorce lawsuit, Justice Lee mentioned that he knew the chief judge of the family court and offered to assist with the lawsuit. A also alleged that through lawyer B, who took on his case, he delivered 5 million won in cash and golf apparel to Justice Lee.
