Ulsan Office of Education Holds Launch Ceremony for Vocational High School Global Field Training
Conducted in Sydney, Australia for 12 weeks from the 25th to December 16th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education held the "2022 Vocational High School Australia Global Field Training Launch Ceremony" on the 21st at the Jiphyeonsil of the Office of Education.
About 50 people participated in the event, including Superintendent No Ok-hee, students dispatched for field training, parents, vocational high school principals, and teachers in charge.
This year's global field training will be conducted in Sydney, Australia, for 12 weeks from the 25th to December 16th. In May, 15 students with a clear intention of overseas employment were selected through document screening and in-depth interviews.
The participating schools are Ulsan Technical High School with 4 students, Ulsan Girls' Commercial High School with 4 students, Life Science High School with 2 students, Beauty Arts High School with 2 students, Ulsan Commercial High School with 1 student, Ulsan Industrial High School with 1 student, and Technical Industrial High School with 1 student. The job fields are linked to majors and include 2 in beauty, 3 in cooking, 5 in food and beverage service, and 5 in industry, covering 4 areas.
The selected students have been steadily preparing by receiving preliminary education on English, safety, and career paths.
In particular, during the summer vacation from July 25th to August 22nd, they improved their English skills through 120 hours of face-to-face intensive training at the Employment Support Center, studying 6 hours a day for 4 weeks.
Upon arrival in Sydney, Australia, the students will receive English education and technical training in their job fields at TAFE NSW (Technical and Further Education New South Wales), which signed an agreement with the Ulsan Office of Education in 2019. Afterwards, they will undergo on-site training at related companies and eventually be employed by local companies.
The Office of Education selected two dispatched teachers to ensure the students' safe field training, who will accompany the students for 6 weeks each to support their local adaptation and employment.
At the launch ceremony, the students presented their determination and plans to challenge overseas employment, and the superintendent, parents, and related personnel cheered and wished for their success in overseas employment together.
A student who participated in the launch ceremony said, "I am excited but also a bit fearful to finally be leaving for Australia," adding, "I will sincerely devote myself to everything as I have prepared so far and improve my English skills to become a kind hotelier."
