Yongin City to Decide Resident Participatory Budget Priorities Through 'Online Voting'
[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province is conducting an online vote to prioritize resident participation budget projects.
On the 21st, Yongin City announced that it will hold an online citizen vote for the '2023 Resident Participation Budget Resident Opinion Projects' until the 7th of next month to reflect citizens' opinions in selecting the priority of resident participation budget projects.
From July last year to July this year, the city received a total of 171 resident opinion project applications through its website and in-person visits.
The city compiled the application results, and after each project department reviewed the feasibility and appropriateness of the project costs, 16 projects were shortlisted through the Resident Participation Budget Committee.
Major projects include ▲ additional distribution of Joa-yong emoticons ▲ additional support for heating and cooling costs at local children's centers ▲ increase in Yongin Pay incentives ▲ replacement of water channels in Geunchang-ri ▲ installation of electronic clocks in Naekkot Park, Dongbaek-dong ▲ landscape creation at Yeokbuk Cultural Park ▲ maintenance of water features at Soncho Children's Park ▲ opening of Urban Planning Road Jung 2-37 ▲ paving of school routes at Yongma Elementary School ▲ opening of fire roads Pogok So 3-19 ▲ installation of sidewalk blocks on school routes at Yongcheon Elementary School ▲ opening of fire roads Mohyeon So 2-21 ▲ environmental improvement of school routes at Hanil Elementary School ▲ improvement of pedestrian environment on Saecheonnyun-ro ▲ maintenance of rainwater drains in front of Seonong Elementary School ▲ and road environment improvement on Sinsu-ro in Suji District.
In this online citizen vote, each person can select up to four projects. Any citizen can participate through the city website (Citizen Participation - Citizen Proposals/Discussions - Surveys).
This year, in addition to website voting, one-on-one survey responses using KakaoTalk Pocket Survey will also be reflected in the final selection.
The city will determine the priority by combining the online citizen vote results (30%) and the Resident Participation Budget Committee general meeting results (70%). The final budget inclusion results will be disclosed on the website after the city council's budget approval in December.
