Biden Appoints Tracy as Russian Ambassador...First Female Ambassador to Russia
[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] On the 20th (local time), U.S. President Joe Biden nominated Lynne Tracy, the Ambassador to Armenia, as the ambassador to Russia, a position currently vacant.
According to the White House, nominee Tracy is a career diplomat and currently serves as the Ambassador to Armenia. Previously, from 2014 to 2017, she served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Russia and was known as a "Russia expert" who held the position of Senior Advisor on Russia at the State Department. She has also served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Central Asia in the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs at the State Department and as Director for Central Asia at the National Security Council.

The position of ambassador to Russia has been vacant since earlier this month following the resignation of former ambassador John Sullivan. If confirmed, nominee Tracy will become the first female U.S. ambassador to Russia in history.
