O Gwang-rok, Gwangju Seo-gu Council Member, Proposes 'Volunteer Fire Brigade Support Ordinance'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Oh Gwang-rok, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council, recently proposed the 'Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Volunteer Fire Brigade Support Ordinance.'
Recently, due to global abnormal climate phenomena, unprecedented disasters such as the heaviest rainfall in 115 years caused devastating flood damage in the central region, making recovery extremely difficult.
Accordingly, the proposed ordinance, aimed at enhancing on-site response capabilities, specifically includes systematic support measures for the volunteer fire brigade.
Councilman Oh said, "It was regrettable that there was no legal basis in the ordinance to support the volunteer fire brigade, which plays an active role in fire and rescue operations," adding, "With institutional improvements and systematic support, we can strengthen the on-site response capabilities of the volunteer fire brigade, who dedicate themselves to protecting the lives and property of district residents."
