Importance of SME Participation in Achieving Carbon Neutrality, Emphasis on Financial Support and International Cooperation
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Hwajeong] IBK Industrial Bank announced on the 20th that President Yoon Jong-won delivered a keynote speech at the 'Global Green Hub Korea 2022' hosted by the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Global Green Hub Korea is an annual business networking event held to introduce domestic companies' technologies related to carbon neutrality and energy transition and to create a foothold for exports. This year, more than 40 global buyers and about 150 domestic companies participated.
President Yoon, who is also serving as co-chair of the OECD Sustainable SME Finance Platform, was invited by the organizers as a representative domestic green finance expert to deliver a keynote speech on the theme of 'Green Transition and the Role of Finance.'

In his keynote speech, President Yoon emphasized, "Participation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is important for carbon neutrality, but the conditions are challenging," and added, "Efforts to support green finance that lower entry barriers must be strengthened." He continued, "To overcome the difficulties associated with SMEs' participation in the green transition, cooperation among various stakeholders, including the financial sector, is necessary," and stated, "Along with joint efforts to seek feasible solutions, it is essential to establish and implement internationally consistent green finance standards."
