Mokpo City Continuously Collects Public Officials' Opinions to Reform Organizational Culture
[Mokpo=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Hyeong-seok] On the 20th, Mokpo City in Jeollanam-do announced that it will strengthen communication among public officials to bring new changes and innovations to the public service community.
The city will operate an opinion collection board within its internal administrative system where public officials can anonymously submit their opinions. This is to gather diverse opinions, share improvement plans, and actively utilize them in work promotion.
As the composition of personnel rapidly changes, including an increase in the proportion of female public officials and MZ generation public officials, differences in perceptions and behavioral patterns between generations are emerging.
Accordingly, the city has recognized the need for proactive responses to such changes by innovating organizational culture and decided to establish a dedicated channel to continuously collect opinions.
To collect candid opinions, the city opened an anonymous bulletin board in August and received 44 opinions over the course of a month, reviewing their feasibility for implementation.
Among these, 34 opinions, excluding 10 that were institutionally or structurally impossible due to the building, will be reflected and promoted. Major proposals include providing psychological counseling convenience facilities, call connection tones with messages prohibiting verbal abuse to improve welfare for public officials responding to civil complaints, education on workplace harassment and dissemination of behavioral guidelines, and codes of conduct to break the rigid atmosphere of the public service community by avoiding formalistic reporting.
