On the 19th, the Suwon Southern Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced that they have booked and are investigating A, a 20-year-old medical student at Ajou University, without detention on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (filming using a camera, etc.).
A is accused of illegally filming students by installing a smartphone-shaped camera on one side of an open locker inside a temporary changing room in the Ajou University College of Medicine building on the morning of June 24.
The changing room was a temporary space set up for students to change clothes. It was reported that students used it one at a time regardless of gender.
The crime was uncovered when a student discovered the camera installed by A several hours after it was set up and reported it to the police during the day.
Investigations revealed that the discovered camera recorded several students changing their tops on that day.
A is known to have no prior record of similar offenses.
