Hyundai Motor Company and Iveco Group Unveil the World's First 'eDaily Hydrogen Electric Vehicle'
7-Ton Large Van Based on 'DAILY'
Equipped with Hyundai's 90kW-Class Hydrogen Fuel Cell System
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Hyundai Motor Company is unveiling a hydrogen electric large van in collaboration with Italy's global commercial vehicle specialist Iveco Group, strengthening their partnership to accelerate carbon neutrality.
On the 19th, at the world's largest commercial vehicle exhibition, the 'IAA Hannover Commercial Vehicle Show' held in Germany, Hyundai Motor Company and Iveco Group jointly unveiled the ‘eDaily Hydrogen Electric Vehicle’ for the first time in the world.
In March, Hyundai Motor Company and Iveco Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore joint technology and mutual supply opportunities with the goal of advancing carbon neutrality, actively reviewing potential collaboration areas related to eco-friendly vehicles and conducting various projects.
The ‘eDaily Hydrogen Electric Vehicle (eDAILY FCEV)’ unveiled for the first time at this exhibition is the second collaborative result between Hyundai Motor Company and Iveco Group. In July, the two companies announced a collaboration to equip Iveco Group’s buses with Hyundai Motor’s hydrogen fuel cell system.
The ‘eDaily Hydrogen Electric Vehicle (eDAILY FCEV)’ is a 7-ton class large van based on Iveco Group’s flagship van ‘Daily (DAILY)’, featuring a 140kW-class electric motor from FPT Industrial, a subsidiary of Iveco Group, and a 90kW-class hydrogen fuel cell system from Hyundai Motor Company.
It can travel up to 350 km on a single charge, with a charging time of about 15 minutes and a maximum payload of 3 tons.
In particular, Hyundai Motor’s hydrogen fuel cell system installed in the vehicle is a versatile system applicable in various fields. In the commercial vehicle sector, the system’s competitiveness has been proven by the Xcient hydrogen electric trucks equipped with it, which have accumulated over 4.5 million kilometers across Switzerland, raising expectations for its role.
Hyundai Motor Company and Iveco Group expect the ‘eDaily Hydrogen Electric Vehicle (eDAILY FCEV)’, which uses hydrogen as fuel and offers long driving range and high payload capacity, to be introduced especially in the long-distance segment of last-mile delivery.
Martin Zeilinger, Vice President of Commercial Development at Hyundai Motor, said, “We are very pleased to unveil the ‘eDaily Hydrogen Electric Vehicle’, the second collaborative result following the announcement of the hydrogen bus project with Iveco Group,” adding, “Hyundai Motor will continue to accelerate carbon neutrality by conducting various projects with Iveco Group.”
