Considering the characteristics of a mixed urban and rural city, the city will provide 700 doses of preventive vaccines and vaccination fees free of charge, distinguishing between mountainous and rural areas with frequent wild animal appearances and urban neighborhoods.
In urban areas, only registered companion dogs are eligible for vaccine support, so owners must visit designated animal hospitals with their animal registration certificates.
A city official said, "Rabies is mainly transmitted to dogs through wild animals and is a zoonotic disease that can also infect humans. For prevention, it is recommended to vaccinate once at 3 to 4 months of age and then receive booster shots annually."
He added, "If you did not vaccinate against rabies last year, you must get vaccinated during this period. Vaccination is also possible when applying for animal registration, so we hope you take this opportunity to register your companion animals, which are like family members, as a sure way to protect them."
The list and addresses of designated animal hospitals can be found on the city’s website bulletin board or by inquiring at the nearest eup, myeon, or dong administrative welfare center.
Vaccinations in mountainous and rural areas will be conducted by seven public veterinarians visiting villages in cooperation with eup and myeon administrative welfare centers.
Citizens who wish to receive vaccinations can get detailed guidance by contacting the eup or myeon administrative welfare centers during the project period.
