Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, made this statement while ordering a comprehensive investigation into various centers and budget support policies ahead of next year's budget formulation.
On the 19th, presiding over a meeting with heads of offices and bureaus at the provincial government, Governor Park encouraged employees engaged in on-site inspections and emergency duties in preparation for Typhoon Nanmadol (Typhoon No. 14), urging them to thoroughly identify all typhoon-related damages and ensure complete recovery.
He then instructed, "Evaluate whether the centers managed by each department are operating according to their original purpose, and analyze even the smallest details such as the effectiveness of budget support policies."
He directed to review whether centers currently paying high rents in private buildings can be relocated to public office buildings to reduce unnecessary expenditures.
At a meeting with public institutions relocated to Gyeongnam Innovation City on the 16th, he said, "The biggest hardship for employees of relocated public institutions is housing," and urged to strengthen efforts to improve living conditions and supply new housing.
He added, "We have been requesting expanded local talent recruitment and local product purchases from the relocated public institutions in our region, but it is unacceptable to make one-sided demands without meeting their needs," calling for active resolution of the requests from institutions relocated to Gyeongnam Innovation City.
He also mentioned establishing support measures for companies, especially raw material importers facing difficulties due to declining export price competitiveness caused by rising international exchange rates.
Furthermore, he emphasized, "We must conduct a comprehensive analysis of the province's industrial sites, thoroughly plan the creation of new industrial complexes, provide information to companies, and gradually secure industrial sites."
