BLACKPINK 'Shutdown' Ranks No.1 Globally on Spotify
All Tracks from the 2nd Album Rank Within the Top 30
[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] The title track of girl group BLACKPINK's second full-length album, "Shut Down," has claimed the number one spot on the world's largest music streaming platform, Spotify.
BLACKPINK's agency, YG Entertainment, announced on the 18th that "Shut Down" reached number one on Spotify's "Daily Top Songs Global Chart."
"Shut Down" recorded over 6.6 million streams on its release day, the 16th. The country with the largest share was the United States (1,037,386 streams). It also gained popularity in countries such as the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Vietnam, Mexico, Thailand, and Brazil.
YG Entertainment explained, "This is the second time topping this chart following the pre-release single 'Pink Venom' released last month," adding, "BLACKPINK has become the only K-pop group, male or female, to have two number-one songs on this chart."
