KOTRA Holds First Korean Product Exhibition in Guangxi, China
Support for Boosting Exports to China through China-ASEAN Expo Collaboration
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Pyeonghwa] The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) promoted the '2022 China Region O2O (Online to Offline) Korean Excellent Products Exhibition' in conjunction with the '19th China-ASEAN Expo' held from the 16th to the 19th in Nanning City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China.
The China-ASEAN Expo is in its 19th year this year. It is an exhibition jointly hosted by the governments of China and 10 ASEAN countries. This year, as it is the inaugural year of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), Korea was designated as a special cooperation country to focus on expanding cooperation between Korean and Guangxi companies. Guangxi region shares a border with ASEAN countries, providing a geographical advantage, and it is the only region in western China with a port, raising expectations that it will become a future logistics hub.
KOTRA Guangzhou Trade Center conducted hybrid online and offline marketing targeting the untapped Guangxi market in China, supporting the activation of exports to China by 145 domestic small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-sized companies, including items such as beauty, fashion, food, health supplements, and consumer goods. They held an offline exhibition and on-site export consultation, an O2O showcase hall, and online consultations. On-site, they also presented a K-Food experience program and broadcasts by Wanghong (Chinese influencers).
A representative from domestic company A, which produces various types of bags, said, “We decided to sign a contract with a buyer we met on-site,” adding, “The initial supply volume is expected to exceed $10,000.” A representative from company B, which handles daily necessities such as toothpaste, stated, “Positive discussions were held with local agents,” and “We plan to conduct in-depth follow-up consultations.”
Hong Changpyo, head of KOTRA’s China Regional Headquarters, said, “Based on the RCEP that took effect this year, Guangxi is expected to grow into a logistics hub connecting the Northeast Asian and Southeast Asian markets,” and added, “We will expand support projects so that our companies can enter western China and further into Southeast Asia.”
