1 Year Since the Opening of Yeomni Comprehensive Social Welfare Center in Mapo-gu
1st Anniversary Ceremony on the 16th, Diverse Commemorative Events with Resident Participation on the 17th
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Kang-su) held a commemorative ceremony on the 16th to mark the 1st anniversary of the opening of the Yeomni Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, a public facility located in Yeomni-dong, Mapo-gu.
The Yeomni Comprehensive Social Welfare Center was built at a cost of 22.2 billion KRW, with a scale of two basement floors to four above-ground floors, to expand the social welfare infrastructure in Mapo-gu, which was relatively lacking compared to other districts, and to respond to the diverse welfare needs of residents.
In addition to the comprehensive social welfare center, the Dementia Relief Center, Daycare Center, Disabled Daycare Center, and Our Neighborhood Care Center are also housed together, serving as a space for resident care and community interaction, playing a vital role in Mapo-gu’s welfare network.
About 120 people attended the ceremony, including Park Kang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, Assemblyman Noh Woong-rae, City Councilors Jeong Jin-sul and Lee Min-seok, Mapo-gu Council Chair Kim Young-mi, President Kim Seok-hyun of the Korea Social Welfare Association, district council members, and local residents.
To celebrate the welfare center’s first anniversary, two babies who are also celebrating their first birthday this year, along with Mayor Park Kang-su and attendees, participated in a traditional doljabi event to jointly celebrate the 1st anniversary of the opening.
In his congratulatory speech, Park Kang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “As a regional welfare hub institution, I hope the Yeomni Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, which plays a key role in Mapo-gu’s welfare network, will continue to be a reliable pillar that neighbors in need can trust and lean on.”

Starting with the commemorative ceremony on the 16th, the public Yeomni Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, celebrating its 1st anniversary, will continue various events on the 17th, including an Earth-saving experiential playground, food market, and environmental love video screening, with participation from residents.
