No one would not be angry if someone refuses to give the money they earned by working. But what would you think if the person who did that for 30 years was your own older brother? At first, you would dismiss it as 'impossible.' Then, realizing the reality, you might soon collapse. This is the story of broadcaster Park Suhong.
Judge Kim Yumi, in charge of warrants at the Seoul Western District Court, issued an arrest warrant on the 13th for Park's older brother, Park Mo, who is accused of embezzlement under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes. It has been 1 year and 4 months since Park Suhong directly filed a complaint against him. With the arrest warrant issued, the prosecution is expected to indict Park Mo soon.
Park Suhong filed a complaint in April last year, accusing Park Mo of embezzling appearance fees and other earnings by establishing a management corporation and failing to keep promises on profit distribution over the past 30 years. Two months later, in June, he also filed a lawsuit seeking damages worth approximately 11.6 billion won against Park Mo and his wife.
Initially, Park Suhong claimed that Park Mo embezzled more than 10 billion won, but the prosecution is known to have requested the arrest warrant considering about 2 billion won as the crime amount, excluding amounts past the statute of limitations and about 3 billion won that Park Mo claims to have spent for Park Suhong.
The prosecution also appears to be considering that Park Mo's wife, Lee Mo, was involved in the embezzlement. She is suspected of having established and operated the management corporation with Park Mo and having accessed Park Suhong's personal bank account.
Park Mo is said to have diverted funds by paying false salaries to employees who did not work, and Lee is reported to have charged several million won on the corporate card for skin care shops and their children's academy fees.

Additionally, Park Mo is suspected of secretly subscribing to a high-value death insurance policy without Park Suhong's knowledge, as the contract holder is the management corporation. According to Park Suhong, the maximum insurance payout upon death is 970 million won, and in case of an accident, it reaches 1.07 billion won.
