According to political circles on the 17th, the People Power Party Ethics Committee will hold an emergency meeting on the 18th. Originally, a meeting was scheduled for the 28th, but an additional separate meeting has been arranged.
Given this situation, there is analysis that the Ethics Committee is proceeding with additional disciplinary procedures against former leader Lee. After initiating the disciplinary process, a final decision could be made at the meeting on the 28th.
On the 1st, the Ethics Committee hinted at the possibility of additional disciplinary action against former leader Lee in a statement. The committee said, "The People Power Party's parliamentary meeting on the 27th of last month, through a statement following the meeting results, strongly condemned and warned the Ethics Committee about Lee’s remarks such as 'dog meat,' 'sheep’s head and dog’s meat,' and 'new military regime,' which caused humiliation to party members, and urged the Ethics Committee to promptly handle additional disciplinary action. We respect this opinion."
Along with this, the committee explained, "The Ethics Committee was formed to strengthen the party’s ethical awareness, maintain discipline, and promote morale. One of its main functions is to impose disciplinary measures and deliberate on party members who violate the party constitution, party regulations, or ethical rules, or who commit other misconduct." It added, "Accordingly, under the authority granted by the party constitution, the Ethics Committee can discipline acts extremely harmful to the party, violations of the party constitution, party regulations, and ethical rules that hinder party development, or acts that cause public sentiment to turn away from the party as a result."
In response, former leader Lee criticized on Facebook the day before, saying, "Is there really a reason to hold an Ethics Committee meeting while even hiding whether it will be held?" and "Wow. It’s scheduled right after the president’s departure." President Yoon is set to depart on the 18th for a tour of the UK, the US, and Canada.
In another post, he pointed out, "When separate schemes are carried out independently, a major disaster occurs," and "While one side appears on broadcasts dismissing the surprise expulsion rumors as imagination and calling me a political villain, the Ethics Committee actually scheduled a meeting and notified me at the exact same time."

Former leader Lee has already mentioned the 'expulsion rumor.' On the 15th, he appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and said, "From what I see, they will create a pretext and make an expulsion scenario, saying 'He is no longer a party member,' I think." He added, "I am expecting another remarkable overreach this time as well."
