[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Hyun-ji] On the 16th, Kim Ki-hyun, a member of the People Power Party, stated regarding remarks hinting at the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol coming from some within the Democratic Party of Korea, “This is a public threat and a display of incitement intent to retaliate with presidential impeachment if the investigation into Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party, intensifies.”
On the same day, Kim said on his Facebook, “The shameless attitude of openly uttering impeachment without hesitation while talking about the term of a president who has only been in office for four months is arrogance and insolence that rejects the presidential election.” He added, “In the situation where the truth of the ugly corruption crimes is beginning to be revealed, trying to deceive the public with such shallow tricks will hardly avoid greater disaster for the faction.”
He continued, “The idea of wrapping it up by saying ‘First is people’s livelihood, second is people’s livelihood, and last is people’s livelihood’ while pretending to be noble and talking about livelihood and cooperation in front, but behind the scenes engaging in scheming, trickery, deception, and incitement is extremely outdated and pathetic,” directly criticizing Lee Jae-myung by saying, “And then to beg for a summit meeting is just baffling hypocrisy.”

Recently, the Democratic Party proposed the ‘Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Act’ as a party resolution and even brought up the issue of President Yoon’s impeachment. Jeong Cheong-rae, a hardliner within the party and Supreme Council member, said on a radio show on the 13th, “People are saying whether (President Yoon) will complete his term,” and Park Chan-dae, also a Supreme Council member classified as pro-Lee Jae-myung, said, “There is a high possibility that President Yoon’s term will not be guaranteed.”
